Description
Easy and flavorful Italian Sloppy Joe sandwich for the entire family.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of ground beef
- 1 red pepper chopped
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 cups of homemade tomato sauce (Affiliate Link) or bought sauce with or without chunks
- 3 ounces tomato paste
- 1 TBSP Italian herbs mix
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
- A quarter teaspoon of pepper black
- 4 potato hamburger rolls.
- Optional: 4 slices of Provolone
Instructions
- In a large skillet, at medium-high heat, add two tablespoons of olive oil (Affiliate Link) and ground beef.
- Break down the meat and cook for five minutes until light brown.
- Add to the meat the chopped red pepper, chopped onion, the Italian seasoning mix, the garlic. Stir to combine and cook for another 3-5 minutes or when the onions become translucent. Stir occasionally.
- Add tomato sauce (Affiliate Link) and tomato paste and the rest of the salt pepper and red pepper flakes, lower the temperature to low, and cover for 5- 10 minutes.
- Add to standard size potato rolls. If you want to add cheese, try provolone slices.
Notes
Feel free to try this with ground turkey if you want a lighter dish.
