Description

Easy and flavorful Italian Sloppy Joe sandwich for the entire family.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 red pepper chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cups of homemade tomato sauce (Affiliate Link) or bought sauce with or without chunks
  • 3 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 TBSP Italian herbs mix
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
  • A quarter teaspoon of pepper black
  • 4 potato hamburger rolls.
  • Optional: 4 slices of Provolone

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, at medium-high heat, add two tablespoons of olive oil (Affiliate Link) and ground beef.
  2. Break down the meat and cook for five minutes until light brown.
  3. Add to the meat the chopped red pepper, chopped onion, the Italian seasoning mix, the garlic. Stir to combine and cook for another 3-5 minutes or when the onions become translucent. Stir occasionally.
  4. Add tomato sauce (Affiliate Link) and tomato paste and the rest of the salt pepper and red pepper flakes, lower the temperature to low, and cover for 5- 10 minutes.
  5. Add to standard size potato rolls. If you want to add cheese, try provolone slices.

Notes

Feel free to try this with ground turkey if you want a lighter dish.
