Description

Easy turkey burger with a Mexican twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Turkey
  • One tsp dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 2 tsp Granulated Garlic
  • Two eggs
  • 2 Tbsp Salsa (Your favorite type) Mild
  • 1 cups of Panko Breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. First, place all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Add the breadcrumbs last a bit at a time so you can make sure the mix isn't too sticky. It holds up better in the freezer if it is less sticky. If you use gluten-free breadcrumbs, it may get dry fast, so how much GF breadcrumbs you add.
  2. Then, form the burgers. This recipe makes 6 burgers. I don't like my burgers too large, so 6 burgers make a good serving size.
  3. At this point, to cook on the grill, use non-stick spray (Affiliate Link) on one size and place it on the grill. Cook for 6-10 minutes and then turn over and cook for another 6-10 minutes or until done. Make sure there is no pink inside.
  4. Or, if you want, you can place it in a non-stick skillet with a little oil or spray in the pan and cook it for 6-10 minutes on each side or until finished.

Notes

WHAT ADDITIONS AND TOPPINGS GO WITH TURKEY BURGER?

Whole Wheat Rolls - of course. Or you can do a Gluten-Free bun or just have it on lettuce.
Slice of cheese or slice of non-dairy cheese - depending on how large you make your turkey burger, you can decide to add half a slice of cheese or maybe two.
Lettuce - a slice or two of lettuce works nicely with the burger.
Tomato - a thin slice of tomato goes nicely with this dish too.
Avocado or Mayo - Since this recipe is on the dry side, you may want to add some extra fat when you build your sandwich. You can add some slices of avocado or a dollop of mayo. Your choose.
Red Onion - if you prefer onion, you can add a thin slice of red onion as well.
