the adventures of bob the bin

I'm taking a break from all tips this week to write this story about The Adventures of Bob The Bin. I hope you enjoy it.

------------------------------

The Extraordinary Experience of Bob The Bin

Once upon a time, there was a storage bin named “Bob” at the nearby store who longed for an adventure to serve a wonderful family. “Oh, the ultimate experience,” he thought to himself, “Bins like me, are used for so many things. I can have many adventures and be around forever.”

One day, he saw a lovely woman who was looking for a bin for her baby’s toys. She examined each bin while contemplating what size container to purchase. As Bob watched, he became hopeful, “This is my chance. She may need a container like me. So, he sat up tall and showed his best side. “Pick me!” he thought, “Pick me!” She perused the various bins picking up each one, and when she came to Bob, she said, “This is it! This container will be perfect for my son's room.”

She returned home with her new bin and started going through her baby’s toys. Getting rid of toys that the baby didn’t use, Bob watched as the piles of toys grew. I hope I can hold one of those piles, he thought.

Anxiously, he waited. A little while later, he was in luck; he got to keep all the baby toys for the lady's son, Josh. While holding the items neatly, he thought “Woohoo! I'm doing it. I am helping someone.”.

As Josh grew, Bob's purpose also changed. Bob held various fantastic toys from Legos to Transformers. When Josh started middle school, Bob was used for different game cartridges and controllers for his many video game consoles. “What fun!” Bob thought. “I held so many things in my life. I wonder what I am going to be next.” As Josh grew and was ready for high school, Bob was nervous. “What can I hold now? Josh doesn't play with toys as much anymore." He thought. But, Josh surprised Bob by making him a file bin for his many school folders. Bob was amazed that he transformed into so many things in his life and that he didn’t realize how useful he could be. He helped Josh stay organized with his studies and helped him get into an exceptional university. “I am so proud of Josh.” Bob thought. “I hope he continues to use me.”

The day had come for Josh to pack for his trip to his new university. Bob watched as Josh moved items around his room, packing various things in boxes, luggage, and bags. Josh’s mom walked in. “Almost ready for your big adventure, Josh.” She said excited but a little sad. “Yes, Mom, almost,” Josh said. As Bob watched this, he wondered, “Will I be going away with Josh? Will I get an adventure too?” And, then, it happened. Josh picked up Bob and filled him with vast reams of printer paper. “Wow, this is heavy!” Bob thought straining not to let the papers fall out. “But, I can do this.” He said confidently.

Josh carried Bob down to the car and finished packing. They started their drive to college, as the car moved and rattled, Bob held on to the papers so tightly. "Josh is counting on me." he thought. He didn’t lose a single rem of paper. Finally, they stopped and parked. “Wow, we made it.” He thought. “This is going to be a great adventure!”

What a sweet story! And it would have been so confusing if Bob's name had been Ben. 😉

Stories are the best way to get a point across at times, though I may be a bit biased in that area 😉

Reminds me of Toy Story. Andy's toys sweat out the fact that he's getting older and may no longer be interested in them. I've got some bookcases that I've hauled around with me through a few moves. Never thought of giving them a name though.

What a cute story. I really enjoyed Bob and his adventure. Your daughter is a talented artist. I'm glad Bob got taken to college. I would have been really said if he got left behind.

What a wonderfully creative post! I'm glad Bob didn't become a "has been" (bin). Your daughter is very creative too. Thank you for sharing.
