When my husband and I first got married, we would have yearly New Year's Eve parties. They were a blast, and we had a great time making the menu and sharing our meals with others. This spinach balls recipe is one of our favorite appetizer recipes. It's easy to make ahead and delicious, too! Since then, I have made it every year for a great weeknight meal for my family. Delicious Spinach Balls Appetizer Recipe
Spinach Balls Recipe Ingredients
- 1.5 sticks butter (softened)
- 2 10 oz. chopped spinach
- ½ cup onion (diced)
- 3 eggs
- 2 egg whites
- 2 cup herbed seasoned stuffing We used: Pepperidge Farm, Herb Seasoned Stuffing, 14oz Bag (Pack of 2)
- ½ teaspoon garlic (granulated)
- 1 cup Romano cheese
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon cayenne
Spinach Balls Recipe Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Then, Cook spinach according to the package. Drain well. Squeeze dry.
In a bowl, add butter, spinach, onion, eggs, egg white, herbed seasoned stuffing, Romano cheese, salt, garlic, and cayenne. Mix well.
Form into ½ - 1 inch balls. Add to wax paper on a cookie sheet (Affiliate Link). Refrigerate while preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
Make ahead - freezer Instructions
You can make these spinach balls ahead of time. Here's how.
- On a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet (Affiliate Link), make the balls and place them a few inches apart on the cookie sheet (Affiliate Link). Place in the freezer for one-half hour. Then, transfer it into a baggie and freeze it for later.
- Write on the baggie the oven temperature at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and back for 30 minutes.
When ready to bake instructions
When ready to bake, place on parchment paper (Affiliate Link) on a cookie sheet (Affiliate Link) for 30 minutes. Turning the spinach balls after 15 minutes. I used two baking sheets (Affiliate Link), so they were spread out a bit.
Let sit for a few minutes. Serve with honey mustard dip.
Equipment
You do not need a lot for this recipe. Here are the things you absolutely need.
- Baking sheets - at least two of them.
- Large mixing bowl - if you plan on doubling this batch, you may want two large bowls.
- A saucepan to cook the spinach.
- Wax paper for the freezing part.
