Making The Bathroom Your Oasis Challenge

Making The Bathroom Your Oasis Challenge

Ahhh, the bathroom…the serene space where you go to relax and take care of yourself (Affiliate Link). But is it really? Is your bathroom the place you love to go each morning to get ready for a wonderful day or is it just the place that you NEED to go and take care of business.  Well, if it is the latter, this month's challenge is for you.  We are going to work on bathroom organization.

May’s organizing challenge is making the bathroom your oasis. If you have more than one bathroom, this month will be focusing on one bathroom that you use all the time. It could be your on-suite bathroom or your main bathroom.  Use the steps below to determine what you need to do. Make a to-do list for each section of the bathroom, then take action!

Week 1: Go through the linen closet.

Determine what you need to get rid of. Are there old towels? Have the beauty care supplies in the closet expired? Do you have all your cleaning supplies together? Does the closet need to be touched up? Are the shelves (Affiliate Link) working for your purposes? Are all the extra supplies (toilet paper, tissues, toothbrushes, etc…) in one place?

Tip: Place hard plastic shelf liners (Affiliate Link) covered with shelf paper (for a splash of color) to your wire shelves (Affiliate Link).

Week 2: Go through under sink vanity.

Is there anything that can be removed? Did anything spill? Does anything need to be cleaned up? Are your cleaning supplies under the cabinet?

Tip: Use shelf paper for your vanity cabinet to help protect the vanity bottom from the water. Place your cleaning supplies in a caddy (Affiliate Link) to keep them organized.

Week 3: Go through your cabinets or shelf above your toilet.

Is there anything that doesn’t belong? Do you have enough toilet paper in reach of the toilet? Do you have a tub near? Can you store your bath soaps, bars of soap, and extra shampoo bottles in this area?

Do you have all your facial products out on the counter? Is there a bin you can use to reduce the amount of clutter?

Tip: Place items in this space that you need while near the toilet. Some examples are feminine products and toilet paper.

Week 4: If you have a large tub, go through any bins and items around your tub. Is there anything you can get rid of?

Is there anything that doesn’t belong around the tub? Do you use everything around the tub when you take baths?

Is there a decorative basket, like these below that may work better for around the bathtub? Look for something that is attractive and appealing to the eye.

Tip: If you want to keep your bath salts near the tub, place them in a pretty waterproof bin with a lid to hide them and label (Affiliate Link) the bin.

I hope this helps you make your bathroom an oasis.  Now it's your turn: What is your favorite part of your bathroom?  Do you have a particular challenge in your bathroom?  Leave a comment below and I will help you with your challenge.

The bathroom is one of my favorite rooms. It should be an oasis. and if it's cluttered and unorganized it's hard to come across as relaxing. Spa-like should definitely be the theme.

Great post Sabrina! I love using the clear plastic stackable drawers that you can get at TCS to sort and store my travel sized items, soaps, make-up, etc. They are a great way to take advantage of vanity cabinets under the sink that often are a lot of vertical dead space.

Thanks Sabrina - great post! I also love the clear plastic stackable drawers from The Container Store to sort and organize my travel sized items, soaps, make up, etc. They are great for putting in cabinets under the sink that often otherwise are just a lot of dead space.

I got a little creative and mounted a magazine holder on the inside of a cabinet door and it stores my hair styling tools. It gets them off the counter and I'm using vertical space: a win-win. I do like that bamboo storage box with the lid you highlighted. Great tips overall!

Great tips! I especially liked that you mentioned purging the baskets and bins around our tubs! I personally don't have any around my tub, but many of my clients do and I've never thought about having them declutter there when we're working on their bathrooms - not anymore!! Wonderful post 🙂

Good reminder to remove things from around the tub that don't need to be there. Clutter at the tub sort of kills the relaxing, peaceful vibe you want there!

Great piece! Reminds me that I have a bathroom that could definitely need a re-org! 🙂

These are great tips. I think my favorite part of my bathroom is that there's room for a hamper in a small alcove in the corner of the bathroom. It keeps the dirty laundry out of sight, and out of the bedroom or closet. My biggest challenge is that I have one very deep drawer by my sink. I have placed an acrylic make-up sorter in the drawer, and everyday I put it on the counter while in use, and then tuck it back in the drawer.
