What inspired me to do this Vitamin Bottle Craft Project?
I bought this Sleep Aid bottle for my husband and me and found it was a great smooth side to update. The bottle's label (affiliate) came off easily, so I could get right to it and begin crafting my new design. Plus, the hide was a perfect purple color (my favorite color), and I didn't need to do much to update that either. Yay.
The Details
What supplies did I use to make this Vitamin Bottle Craft Project?
- Empty plastic vitamin bottle (square-shaped works best for this look) with a purple lid - this one was a melatonin container.
- Acrylic multi-surface paint (FolkArt lavender, FolkArt Light Pink, and FolkArt Wicker White)
- Wooden beads (4 for the feet)
- Heavy-duty adhesive (such as Gorilla Glue (affiliate))
- Faux flowers (purple/lavender stems)
- Paintbrushes (affiliate) (flat brush and fan brush)
- Paint palette (affiliate)

How much did it cost to make this Vitamin Bottle Craft Project?
This project only costs $10.00 for the vitamin container. The rest of the supplies were from my craft area from other projects.
How long did it take to make the Vitamin Bottle Craft Project?
This project took me about 2 hours, including drying time.
Things to know when doing this project.
Pick one light, one medium, and one dark acrylic color that complements each other. This will make it easier to blend when you drag the brush over all three colors.
Pro Tip: If the paint is sliding on the plastic, lightly sand the bottle with fine-grit sandpaper before you start. This creates "tooth" for the paint to grab onto.
Think of what the purpose is going to be before starting this project. If it needs to be used outside, consider adding outdoor paint instead.
Steps to Make this Project
Time needed: 2 hours
How did I make this Vitamin Bottle Craft Project?
Below are the steps and images to help you see how I created this makeover.
- Prep and Paint the Feet
First, paint your four wooden beads. I picked a dark lavender color. These will serve as the "feet" for your container, giving it a more elevated, high-end look. Set aside and let dry.
- Clean the container
Then, while the feet are drying, clean the container and remove the label (affiliate). Be sure to dry it completely before painting.
- Paint the vitamin container.
Now, start with the Lavender paint and a paintbrush (affiliate), and paint the bottom and about 1 inch, or a third of the way up, of the vitamin container side. Do this to all 4 sides.
Then do the light pink with another paintbrush (affiliate), about 1 inch up the side or a third of the way up the side, on all 4 sides.
Lastly, paint the Wicker White up the rest of the way, to the edges of the lid. - Make streaks down the sides
Next, BEFORE THE PAINT DRIES, use another paintbrush (affiliate) to make streaks of white through the other colors, from the top white to the bottom edge on all 4 sides. Set aside the opening part to let it dry.
- Add flowers to the lid
To make this part, be sure to remove the individual flower petals from the bouquet. Discard the rest. I only used 1 bunch of flower pedals.
Then, using Gorilla Glue (affiliate), add a dab to the plastic lid, and then glue the stem of each pedal to the top of the lid.
Do this until you complete filling in the cover.
Optional: add a thin white rope using the Gorilla Glue (affiliate) to cover the sides of the lid for a finished look. - Add the painted feet to the bottom of the dry-painted vitamin container.
Now, using Gorilla glue (affiliate) (affiliate), add a dab of glue to each corner (on the flat surface) and glue the painted bead. Add painted wooden feet to the bottom of the bottle.
The Big Reveal
This Vitamin Bottle Craft Project looks lovely. I love how the faux flowers look on the top of the lid, and it looks like a vase, but it has storage. It's a win-win for anyone who wants to hide small personal items in a home.

FAQs
Feel free to check out these additional questions for answers. If you have more questions, please leave a comment below, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Yes, but a square-shaped bottle works best for this particular look because the flat sides make painting and adding wooden bead feet much easier. Round bottles will work too, though you'll need to adjust how you place the feet so the container sits level. Just make sure the bottle is clean, dry, and the label has been fully removed before you start painting.
Plastic surfaces can be slick, so if you notice the paint sliding around or beading up, lightly sand the entire bottle with fine-grit sandpaper before painting. This creates a bit of "tooth" for the paint to grab onto. Using a multi-surface acrylic paint (like FolkArt) also helps with adhesion compared to standard craft paint.
Not at all! The key is choosing one light, one medium, and one dark color that complement each other so they blend nicely when you drag the brush through them. Pick colors that match the room where you'll display the container, or coordinate with the lid color you have. Have fun making it your own
You can, but you'll want to swap the regular acrylic paint for an outdoor-rated multi-surface paint and use a weather-resistant sealer on top. Outdoor adhesive is also a good idea for the wooden feet and faux flowers. Think about where it will live before you start, so you choose the right supplies from the beginning
These are wonderful for organizing small items like cotton swabs, hair ties, bobby pins, jewelry, safety pins, paper clips, or even small craft supplies. Because it has a lid, it's also great for hiding little personal items on a bathroom vanity, dresser, or desk. It makes a sweet, handmade gift, too, when filled with a little something special.
Closing paragraph: I hope this square medicine bottle craft project inspire to make one for yourself and use it to organize your home. Please come back and comment if you do make this project. I would love to hear from you.
