Asian recipes are great for me because I can easily avoid dairy. They have a lot of flavors. This Asian Turkey Burger recipe is no different. The use of dark turkey ground meat helps give the burger the fat it needs and adds flavor. It is a healthy burger recipe option if you like ground turkey.

Step 1: Shred the carrots in a bowl and set them aside. Measure out the rest of the ingredients.
Step 2: Mix garlic, ground turkey, soy sauce, shredded carrot, and ginger in a large bowl and make 4 turkey burgers. Mix it well. The ground ginger can clump. Set aside for 10 minutes.

Step 4: While the grill is heating up, coat both sides of the burger with a nonstick spray. And, set aside.
Step 5: On indirect heat, averaging about 350 -375 degrees, add burgers and cook for 10 minutes. Then turn.

Step 7: Meanwhile, make the sauce for the burgers:
Mix 1 part chili garlic sauce to 2 parts mayo. Make as much as you want with this ratio. Set aside.
Step 8: Remove burgers and set them aside for a few minutes.
Step 9: Assemble burger on buns with the mayo sauce and serve. For the bunless option, add lettuce to the plate and place the burger on the lettuce with the sauce.

What substitutions can I do with this recipe?
Sesame Oil: Drizzle a little sesame oil over the burger instead of using olive oil (Affiliate Link) or spray.
Roll options: You can swap out the gluten-free roll for a smaller potato roll or whole wheat bun.
Water chestnut: Add some water chestnut chopped to the turkey burger for added crunch.
Lean Ground Turkey: You can use lean ground turkey breast instead of dark ground turkey meat.
Low-sodium soy sauce: You can use low-sodium soy sauce if you want. It was hard to find a gluten-free low sodium soy sauce for this recipe.
Ginger: Feel free to swap out the ground ginger for the fresh ginger root. Be sure to grate the ginger before adding it.
